Belmont Senior Opening Day 2009/10

I went along to my first Opening day for the 2009/10 tennis season at Belmont Racquets Club on Sunday 20th September. Hopefully my camera skills arnt quite as rusty as my serve.

First up we had a showcase doubles match - one of New Zealand’s top players and resident Belmont Park coach, Mark Nielsen, together with Geoff Topham take on former Davis Cup player James Shortall (Pompallier) and Tony McNeight (former Pompallier Club President).

The clubs new patron, Hon. John Banks, Mayor of Auckland city, then cut the ribbon and officially opened the new season.

Followed by a round or two of social double and some awesome baking and refreshments to finish off a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon.
